Green Synergy to Strengthen Local Agriculture: PT Astra Graphia Tbk Supports the Development of an Independent Village Through the Kampung Buah Initia

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, PT Astra Graphia Tbk (Astragraphia) carried out a rare plant and fruit tree planting initiative in Sungai Pinang Village, Rambutan District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. A total of 85 fruit tree seedlings were planted, comprising matoa, Arumanis mango, cashew, pomegranate, duku, crystal guava, and rambutan.

In collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture at Sriwijaya University, Astragraphia carried out a seedling distribution and planting activity at the experimental farm in Sungai Pinang Village, involving local community members in planting fruit trees and rare plant species.

Seedlings of various fruit trees and rare plants were distributed to members of the Sinar Harapan Farmers Group and the Bugenvil Women Farmers Group. Members of both groups took part in the planting activity, accompanied by local agricultural extension officers who provided guidance and support throughout the process.

The planting location was strategically selected, as Sungai Pinang Village serves as a model rice-producing area and an important food production center in Banyuasin Regency, while also supporting local fruit and vegetable cultivation. The initiative is therefore well aligned with efforts to maintain the sustainability of an area that plays an important role in supporting the region's food supply.

This initiative forms part of PT Astra Graphia Tbk's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, particularly its commitment to environmental sustainability and community development. The planting of rare plant species and fruit trees also supports the Banyuasin Regency Government's “Pulawan Buweh” (Kampung Buah or Fruit Village) program, which aims to strengthen local agricultural potential and promote the development of fruit-producing villages.

Through an approach tailored to actual needs on the ground, the initiative focuses on two key objectives:

  1. Targeted assistance: Distributing seedlings directly to an established food-producing area managed by active farmers' and women farmers' groups.
  2. Meeting community needs: Selecting plant varieties that support food diversification and enhance local biodiversity in accordance with the needs and potential of the surrounding community.

For the local community, particularly members of the Sinar Harapan Farmers Group and the Bugenvil Women Farmers Group, the initiative offers tangible benefits by enriching the variety of fruit trees and supporting the conservation of rare plant species in residential areas and cultivated land. The addition of 85 seedlings is expected not only to strengthen Sungai Pinang Village's position as a fruit and vegetable production center but also to create opportunities to increase farming households' income when the trees begin to bear fruit.

The community hopes that this assistance will reinvigorate the spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) in managing home gardens and productive land. With proper care and maintenance, the diverse fruit trees are expected to grow and yield optimal harvests, helping farming families meet their nutritional needs more independently while creating opportunities to produce value-added processed goods for the market.

This initiative represents the realization of Astragraphia’s commitment to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) - environment pillar, which focuses on environmental conservation and measurable, sustainable community development. The assistance provided is designed to deliver tangible benefits by aligning with the regional development program “Pulawan Buweh,” initiated by the Banyuasin Regency Government.

Astragraphia hopes that this program will effectively address local needs and reach the intended beneficiaries. The company aims to ensure that its social investments contribute meaningfully to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

For academics from the Faculty of Agriculture at Sriwijaya University, this rare and fruit tree planting initiative provides a strategic opportunity to apply scientific knowledge and contribute to community development in a major food-producing region. The initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for increased agricultural productivity, stronger local farmer institutions, and sustainable economic benefits that improve the well-being of members of the Sinar Harapan Farmers Group and the Bugenvil Women Farmers Group in Sungai Pinang Village.

Perhaps this collaboration will further strengthen the partnership and foster harmonious cooperation among Astragraphia, Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL), the Department of Agriculture and Food, the Banyuasin Regency Government, and the Faculty of Agriculture at Sriwijaya University in achieving resilient regional food self-sufficiency through community empowerment.
