Indramayu, Saturday, April 11, 2026 – PT Astra Graphia Tbk (Astragraphia) and the Indramayu Eye Center (IEC) held an eye health social service activity, including free cataract surgeries, eye exams, health education, and the distribution of 200 pairs of glasses to elementary and high school students in Indramayu Regency. This activity is part of Astragraphia's commitment to improving the community's quality of life, particularly in the health sector.

The program targets two groups: students with visual impairments and the elderly who require cataract surgery. In addition to medical services, participants also received education on the importance of maintaining eye health in the digital age.

Satryo Dewandono, Chief of Business Strategy & Development and Corporate Communications of PT Astra Graphia Tbk, stated that this activity is part of the company's social responsibility program, which focuses on the health pillar. "Eye health is crucial, as good vision is key to productivity and quality of life. Through this program, we want to help the community detect vision problems early," said Satryo. He added that distributing glasses is a real solution for students with refractive errors, while cataract surgery offers new hope for patients who have long experienced limited vision.

"As we approach our 50th anniversary, Astragraphia believes that sustainable growth must go hand in hand with improving the community's quality of life. We realize this through CSR programs covering health, education, the environment, and entrepreneurship," he explained.

Meanwhile, the founder of Indramayu Eye Center, Dr. Achmad Budi Utomo, Sp.M., highlighted the persistent high number of cases of visual impairment in the community, particularly due to untreated refractive errors and cataracts. "Vision impairment remains a significant health problem. Many school-age children experience decreased vision but do not yet wear appropriate glasses, while many cataract patients still do not receive treatment," he said.

According to him, these conditions not only impact health but also affect children's quality of life and learning.

"We hope this activity can help improve access to eye health services while raising public awareness of the importance of early detection," added Dr. Achmad.

CSR activities within the Health Pillar in Indramayu include: the distribution of 200 pairs of glasses, free eye exams, free cataract surgeries, and education related to eye health.

During this activity, 200 students underwent refraction examinations from April 4 to 11, 2026, and received free glasses. Cataract surgery was also performed on underprivileged patients. One recipient of the free glasses, Amanda (14), a junior high school student in Indramayu, said she found this program very helpful. Previously, she often had difficulty following class because her vision was blurry, especially when reading the writing on the blackboard. "When I sat in the back, I often couldn't see the writing, so I had to move forward or ask a friend. Now that I have glasses, it's clearer and easier to study," said Amanda.

She also expressed her joy at receiving the free glasses, considering she hadn't had the opportunity to have her eyes checked specifically. "I'm really happy; I can focus on studying more. Thank you to Astragraphia for their help," she added.

The series of activities also included eye health education delivered by Dr. Dexa Rivandi, Sp.M., and Dr. Hadwer Wicaksono, Sp.M. In this session, participants gained an understanding of how to maintain eye health amidst high levels of digital screen exposure, as well as an introduction to common refractive errors among school-age children.

This collaboration between Astragraphia and healthcare services is expected to be a concrete step in reducing the incidence of visual impairment in the region and providing more equitable access to healthcare services for the community.
